One star only because it's necessary in order to write a review.Like others, I have been disgusted with the atrocious attitudes of all staff, from Reception to consultants, towards those of us in mental health crisis. I've overheard nasty comments, been ignored for hours, been treated like a naughty child, accused of playing games and attention seeking, and left alone in traumatic state and environment for way too long. This callous attitude extends to recent experiences across the hospital, from endoscopy to orthopaedic to A and E, where staff don't seem able or willing to see the whole person. No reassurances, no understanding, just a whole lot of intolerance.God help all of us with complex psychologies. We are ill, not horrible.
First off, are the indoor pictures really of the same place I went to??I didn't see any big open areas like that, the hospital was a maze with many small compartments.Expect to wait at least three hours, even when there are only 2 or 3 pacients. If the place is busy, make sure you have a minimum of 12 to pay for the carpark. If there are around 7 other pacients be prepared to sit on a table. And if you are not keen on being embarrassed id also not recommended it, there are a lot of empty areas available but they dont use all the space and instead opt in placing everyone together, on my single visit I had finished my daily dose of seeing naked strangers.Personally, Id say it's not worth it.Unless you're about to die between the time scale of 4 hours and 4 days you're either already a lost cause or would rather benefit to look up online and do it yourself.I wont say you shouldn't go but ill tell you that after the ordeal you'd probably have had rather DIY'd some homemade poison to drink or even DIY'd your leg off.Much simpler and more effective.
They are doing the best that they can with the budget that they have. Huge waiting times & nurses rushing around everywhere. They deserve all of the praise in the world ! With more government funding, it would be a completely different experience. Despite the huge waiting times, they work very hard, hence the 5 stars.
I was admitted to the maternity ward on Sunday. I am very pleased with the level of care and attention I received. I had to wait for 15 min at the triage unit as they must have forgotten about me I think despite speaking to the team over the phone twice - but other than this everything was great. The food was very bad but this is has nothing to do with the maternity service and more of the hospital's responsibility. Hygiene level was excellent . Many thanks to the midwifery team
Never have I ever been in such a well cared hospital. My child had a prolonged seizure and was put into HDU. We are from Wales and had to travel everyday but it was worth it. The staff on the children's centre are fantastic, the care is brilliant and the facilities were out of this world. Thank you all
